CBC British Columbia is looking for a dynamic Senior Communications Officer (Marketing) to join the Communications, Brand and Marketing team. The successful candidate will possess strong skills in digital marketing and content creation in order to execute a variety of marketing/communications strategies, projects and initiatives to support CBC’s digital, radio and television programming and will report to the Regional Communications Manager. What you’ll do:
- Develop, write and implement strategic, integrated communications and digital marketing plans to promote programming and the brand.
- Plan and implement marketing strategies including – but not limited to:
- Managing and executing paid media buys.
- Developing and implementing targeted social influencer mapping strategies to identify new audiences, create tailored online experiences, foster brand engagement and enable ambassadors.
- Exploring, experimenting and recommending social media strategies for new and emerging social platforms.
- Cultivate and manage relationships internally and with partners.
- Ability to execute media relations and public relations strategies to align with strategic objectives.
- Community content creation for CBC platforms – including some production as necessary.
- Marketing data collection, review and comprehensive analysis.
- Direct, guide and lead promos for regional programs on Radio, TV, Web and Social media.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and departments to develop and generate strategic campaigns that attract target audiences and foster meaningful engagement.
What you bring:
- Superior experience in digital marketing and communications, a passion for social media and desire to grow digital communities.

- Experience in communications, promotions or marketing, five or more years.
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma or a university degree or an acceptable combination of experience, education and training.
- Superior experience in writing for different mediums and platforms.
- Demonstrated traditional and social media marketing experience (including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit).
- Advanced experience in and ability to analyze marketing data and social analytics to facilitate effective decision making.
- Expertise in relevant marketing software and products including: Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, and others.
- Experience in community relations and some event management.
- Creative and strategic thinking.
- Leadership and project management skills (excellent planning and organizational ability).
- Ability to provide support in a variety of roles in a team environment.
- Proven aptitude to function within deadlines, while working both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of languages including, but not limited to, Mandarin, Tagalog, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Spanish or any Indigenous languages are considered an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-changing environment.
- Good working knowledge of design principles and video production and photo editing software and programs, including Canva, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere and After Effects.
- Strong grasp of marketing principles, brand-building and copywriting.
- Experience with creating, sourcing and developing strong, engaging visuals for social media (images, graphics, video).
- Ability to work remotely and in the CBC Vancouver office depending on COVID rules/guidelines and CBC policies.
- Ability to travel when deemed appropriate post pandemic.
- Flexibility in work hours as operations demand, including the ability to work shift work, including evenings, weekends and holidays, is required.
