One-Year Temporary Position
Communications and Education
We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented individual who is ready for a new challenge. The Inquiries Officer is accountable for the day-to-day operation of the BCSC’s contact centre by providing appropriate information to the public and escalating inquiries to the correct business divisions. The Inquiries Officer must relay relevant information received via inquiries to BCSC staff in order to support effective business division operations. Key activities of this position are to respond to enforcement-related complaints and industry-related queries from the general public and industry stakeholders, as well as to review and communicate actionable information across divisions. This position also supports the update and accuracy of content on our corporate and investor education websites. A strong customer service orientation is a must for this role.
Your qualifications include:
- Post-secondary diploma, plus a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience, including customer service and financial industry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent listening skills
- Superior customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to de-escalate situations
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and understand and communicate complex information clearly
- Strong problem-solving skills: able to break down complex problems into critical components and assess potential outcomes
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team, able to work with little direct supervision, and take initiative to improve services and processes
- Proven ability to attend to details, multi-task, and achieve a high degree of accuracy.
These additional qualifications would be an asset:
- Superior computer skills
- Thorough knowledge of BCSC functions, activities, personnel, and websites, and working knowledge of BC securities legislation and policies, especially related to enforcement
- Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of participants in the securities industry and their self-regulatory organizations
- Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course and customer service training
- Additional language skills in Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi or French
The term of this temporary position is March 1, 2022 – February 28, 2023.
