Reporting to the Chief Professional Engineer, the Stack Analyst is responsible for analysing stack and fuel cell systems issues using empirical and theoretic models fed with extensive field data from the companies testing and telemetry systems. This analysis will be used to support activities with other team members including test interpretation, requirements development, systems optimization and failure investigations. This is a dynamic role that involves more than 50% hands-on problem solving.
Typical duties, responsibilities and activities include:
Using empirical data and models, performs the following analysis of Fuel Cell Stacks:
Operating strategy and stack durability and performance
Design and cost
Systems effects
Robustness and variations
Define targets
Works closely with other analysis in Re-Fire to optimize overall powertrain attributes
Timely and correct generation of any assigned data reports
Improves reporting system to optimize efficiency, reduce cost, and ensure effectiveness
Understands the relationships between the test data (the “numbers”) and the characteristics of the product that generate those numbers
Manipulates test data for product improvements and other requirements
Timely alerts to engineering concerning out of spec or questionable test results
Ensures integrity of raw data before it is used in reports or analyses
Preparation of release paperwork for cap tube lots and card lots
Requirements
A technical education in Physics, Mechanical, Chemical Processes, Manufacturing, Materials, or a similar field
2 to 10 years post graduation (will consider more senior people if they have specific Fuel Cell analysis experience)
Modelling and analysis methods in thermodynamics, electrochemistry and/or fluid mechanics
Systems engineering
Testing and or component characterization
A detail and structured orientation
Strong code and math skills
