About the Job
The Financial department is a key part of the management team responsible for the restaurants overall financial health and performance so that the business can grow and better serve its guests, employees and investors! This open position’s key functions include financial systems building, strategic planning, financial reporting, forecasting, internal control, payroll, accounting, risk management, and tax preparation. The successful candidate should have an understanding of the hospitality industry, specific to the foodservice sector,working experiences of big corporation. They are detail-oriented, a numbers all-star, and great at working with others. This is a full-time position, reporting to the parent company team at a fun, mission-driven company with a strong family vibe.
Job Responsibilities
- Organize and manage the daily responsibilities of the accounting and operating functions
- Build effective systems and work processes of the finance department
- Monitors local store’s financial performance and makes recommendations for improvements
- Prepares and presents financial reports and risk analysis
- Helps guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing accounting policies and procedures
- Ensures effective accounts receivables and payable
- Prepares monthly and annual operating budgets and forecasts
- Maintain the financial health of the organization.
- Correspond with various other departments, discussing company plans and agreeing on future paths to be taken.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- At least Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/economics,Professional qualification such as CPA or similar will be considered a pluse
- Proven experience as a Financial controller with a minimum 5 years of experience
- Restaurant or hospitality industry experience or big corporation experience is a major asset
- In-depth knowledge of finance including financial reporting, statements, internal audit, data analysis and payroll systems, finance software
- Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable and receivable functions
- Knowledge of provincial and federal regulation on taxes, reporting, regulations, laws
- Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with company leaders and store management teams
- Self-motivated and self-directed
