Position Overview

The Commercial Account Manager is responsible for growing the size and profitability of the commercial book by gathering external assets, acting on internal referrals and managing a portfolio of relationships, as well as contributing to the growth of all lines of G&F’s business. The incumbent works collaboratively with all credit union and subsidiary staff to proactively network, build relationships and seek business development opportunities with members and non-members. The Commercial Account manager is mobile and committed to service excellence on all facets of business, with the goal of promoting G&F as a primary financial institution and partner in community development.

This role is mobile and will work from various locations as required.


Accountabilities
:

  • Manages a commercial portfolio while minimizing lending risk by analyzing, evaluating, preparing and documenting commercial credit applications.
  • Works to develop commercial business from external sources, within current book and with the G&F membership.
  • Manages portfolio growth by meeting sales and referral targets and increasing product and service penetration of existing members.
    Monitors commercial loans on an ongoing basis by ensuringannual reviews are completed as per commercial loan policy.
  • Seeks opportunities to collaborate and cross-sell other G&F products and refer members to sales partners, including retail banking, wealth management, insurance and mortgage specialists.
  • Actively promotes G&F through involvement in community groups, community events and business development opportunities.

 


Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in finance, commerce or business administration
  • 7-10 years’ progressive experience with proven track record in sourcing and closing commercial deals
  • Experience in real estate lending is a must – acquisition and construction financing of Multi-Residential, Single Family Dwellings and Commercial buildings
  • Experience adjudicating credit is an asset
  • Strong business acumen; understanding and knowledge of market trends and current economic environment
  • Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset
  • Demonstrated strength in sales and identifying opportunities for product cross-selling
  • Excellent relationship management abilities and sound judgment
  • Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate
