Family Support Home Visitor (Temporary)
POSITION: Family Support Home Visitor (BBV)
STARTING ASAP TILL DEC 31 2022
DEPARTMENT: Children and Parenting Programs, Family and Settlement Services
POSITION FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Manager, Children and Parenting Programs, the Family
Support Home Visitor provides support to first-time parents and their children through
home-visiting and community based activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have a Certificate or diploma in Social Services, ECE, Community Development,
Counselling or course work in related fields, or equivalent experience in an area
related to the program;
- Have experience (2 or more years) in early childhood development (0-6 years),
family or parenting experience and experience with immigrant populations and
diverse cultural backgrounds, and/or comparable education or other program,
project or focus specialties;
- Knowledge in early childhood development, family/parent-child relationships,
settlement services, community resources and agencies, standard office
equipment, and specific knowledge related to the function or the focus of the
program, project, or service;
- Ability to speak read and write in fluent English, additional language is a must –
Cantonese/Mandarin.
- Have a working knowledge of standard office equipment and software
applications (O365, virtual platforms, word processing and spreadsheets);
- We are looking for someone who can provide advocacy, be culturally sensitive,
take initiative, be tactful, discrete, diplomatic, patient, and flexible;
- Be organized; be able to set priorities and meet deadlines; and have problem-
solving skills;
- Ability to work independently and with a team;
- Valid driver’s license and car ownership are assets .
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Current, satisfactory Criminal Record Check
HOURS: 28 hrs per week
STARTING PAY: Hourly Rate based on qualifications and experience.
A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length
which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
