Casual Saturday Cook
Richmond Kinsmen Adult Day Centre is a well-regarded non-profit agency providing Adult Day Program services to Richmond seniors since 1981.
We are currently seeking a cook to prepare hot lunches for our Saturday program. We are in search of uniquely special person with at least one years’ experience cooking in different styles and cuisines – everything from traditional classics to Asian-inspired dishes – who is a self-starter, creative, passionate about food, and genuinely interested in the wellbeing of seniors. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a team player, have the ability to work unsupervised, and most importantly, be receptive to bringing a bit of fun and joy to the workplace.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and serves meals and snacks in accordance with established menus and recipes, by performing duties such as planning food preparation and cooking schedules, cooking, roasting, grilling, and baking.
- Performs inventory control duties such as storing and rotating food and supplies.
- Performs cleaning duties such as cleaning food preparation equipment, cleaning sinks and counters, cleaning kitchen and storage areas.
- Washes, scrubs, and rinses pots, pans, dishes, and utensils by hand and dishwasher.
- Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as recipes and records of client preferences, allergies, and special dietary needs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12
- Professional Cook Training Certificate
- Certificates in First Aid and Food Safe
- Related one year experience
EXPECTED COMPETENCIES
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Intermediate level user of Word, Excel, and Outlook
ASSETS
Mandarin and Cantonese, an asset.
