***Part-time, long-term position available with a fun, energetic family of 5 in the Dunbar area! Afternoon hours, start date anytime between Aug 21 and Sept 4.***

The role:

Son, aged 5, will attend Kindergarten this September. His school is walking distance from home (2 blocks). Daughter, aged 7, will attend grade 3 this September. Her school is 5 minute drive from home. Youngest toddler, aged 15 months will attend a parent participating preschool 2 mornings a week. The mother will take the toddler to this program.

This position requires quite a bit of driving, including picking up the two older children from school and taking them to their after-school activities (Arbutus Club, Arts Umbrella, tutoring, soccer), keeping them active and engaged with playground, playdates, library, and lego. Reading is important to the family. No screen time allowed. Both older children like doing crafts as well. They are looking for somebody that can help them with their school and music homework. You would be responsible for preparing light lunches and snacks, tidying up toys after play, helping with the bedtime routine, and reading to them. You would also be asked to care for the toddler, such as changing diapers, feeding and playing when mother is busy at home. The children are active, fun and cheerful, therefore somebody who can keep up with them and is active as well is a must.

The hours:
The family would like somebody to start anytime between Aug 21 and Sept 4. However, for the right candidate there is some flexibility in moving this date by 2 weeks earlier. Ideally they would like somebody to work for 20 – 28 hours a week. However, more hours could be offered if it is a good match.

There is flexibility in the start time of each work day. [the candidate must work minimum 2.30 pm -6.30pm Monday to Friday; ideally candidate will work 3 times a week 2.30pm to 7pm, and 2 times a week 10.30am to 6.30pm] During school holidays and pro d days flexibility is needed and you may be asked to work 8 hour days (not a must, but definitely an asset).

About the family:
This warm and lovely family has 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy. The two older children are very active and fun, and need someone to help them spend all that energy! One parent works from home, and they are excited to welcome a long-term nanny into their lives for years to come!

The perfect nanny:
The best nanny for this role would be someone who is active and willing to keep up with 3 young children! Someone who is comfortable driving the children to and from their activities (car provided). If you have a background in teaching, that is definitely an asset! The family is ideally looking for someone who can be fun, is energetic, kind and calm, and firm in setting boundaries. We would also like somebody who is aware in the social emotional development of children. If you have experience with multiples, that would be ideal! If you speak a second language (such as Mandarin or French) or play an instrument, please include that in your application, as the family would love to hear about it!

There is one small dog in the home, but no care for the pet is required.

Driving is required for this position and the family provides a vehicle for work hours.

The family is vaccinated against COVID-19 and would appreciate a nanny who is as well.
