Since opening in 1984, Van-Whole Produce has remained the leading experts in produce trading by providing high-quality and fresh produce to its clients. With our continuous expansion of client networks, we now provide fresh produce to more than 1,300 produce markets across Canada. To this day, we are still committed to provide personalized attention, value-added service and provide the highest quality in produce to our clients. We place our customers first by bringing over 400 varieties of fresh produce from over 40 different countries.
We’re looking for the best and brightest to take our Sales department to the next level. The Account Manager position will focus on achieving sales objectives by maximizing sales of assigned accounts and increasing market penetration by acquiring new accounts on a continuing basis. This position is intended for individuals who have basic sales and/or produce experience and have demonstrated the ability to apply and develop these skills.
Hours:
- Monday to Friday and rotation working on Saturday. (44 hours)
Compensation:
- Base Salary within three-month probation, Base Salary plus Commission after the probation

Role and Responsibilities
External:
- Call designated customer base within the weekly ordering cycle to maximize daily sales
- Continually pursue potential new accounts and territories
- Consolidate daily market information from competitors or retail stores and inform buying and sales staff in a timely manner
- Thoroughly understand your customer’s expectations and needs in order to set standards on supporting customer satisfaction
- Monitor daily shorts and inform customers of next availability
- Serve all front sales customers regardless of whom the account is allocated to
- Schedule visitation to existing and potential accounts to develop better rapport and relationship
Internal:
- Perform daily cooler walks to verify quality, labels and quantity
- Report all inconsistencies with quality, inventory levels, product size, labels, and weight to the appropriate department (i.e. buyer, quality control staff)
- Adhere to all company rules, regulations and policies
- Attend weekly sales meeting and actively participate in departmental discussions
- Review updated information on the sales bulletin board on a daily/weekly basis
- Be accessible by phone to your customers and the company when absent from the office
- Retrieve buying updates from voice mail/text/email/social media to actively promote and sell all long, new, seasonal & discounted items
- Promote and sell all job off and distress items
- Utilize weekly ads, pre-booking orders, volume and loyalty discounts to maximize sales
- Acting as a liaison between clients and other departments in the company
- Monitor returns by controlling quality issues and operational errors at the source
- Report any account issues or situation that may affect the account performance
- Participate in sales forecasting and monitor daily, bi-weekly and monthly sales reports
- Create and implement an action plan for any dropped accounts
- Participate in building team spirit by respecting, assisting, sharing, interacting and projecting a positive attitude amongst team members
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Post-secondary education
- Proven inside sales experience
- High levels of integrity and commitment to providing exceptional customer service to clients
- Strong phone presence
- Self-motivated with a positive and friendly attitude
- High degree of professionalism
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficient in MS Office
