The BC NDP is seeking two experienced and enthusiastic bilingual managers to oversee a voter contact phone bank.
In this job you will be responsible for the initial set up and ongoing management of a voter contact phone bank, including securing office space and equipment; hiring, training and scheduling phone bank callers; and providing daily briefings and supervising scheduled callers. You will provide regular reports to the central campaign and will work closely with the Field and Data departments.
This is a great position if you are interested in progressive politics and campaigns, willing to pick up the phone and lead by example. You don’t mind repetitive detail-oriented administrative work, are tech savvy and able to support and motivate a team.
Job Responsibilities
- Hiring, training, and supervising front-line phone bank staff
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the voter contact phone bank, including tech and admin support
- Providing ongoing support, coaching and performance management to meet voter contact targets
- Analyzing trends amongst voters and providing reports to the central campaign
- Crafting, updating and translating calling scripts to incorporate new messaging, issues and local information
- Monitoring the performance of different calling segments, and work with the data team to ensure fresh calling lists are available when needed
- Tracking employees’ hours and working with payroll staff
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience managing a team
- Strong coaching and leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees
- Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Bilingual: English and Mandarin and/or Cantonese
- Computer literate
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, decisiveness and attention to detail
- Commitment to the values of the BC NDP
- Must be available evenings and weekends and willing to work long and irregular hours
- Familiarity with auto-dialer and computer-based calling systems
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Advanced knowledge of and a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft applications, Slack, Asana, and Google Docs
Assets
- Experience with voter contact and/or telephone-based solicitation
- Recent electoral campaign experience
- Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Terms and Conditions
This is a full-time temporary position reporting to the BC NDP Director of Special Projects. The position is covered by the CUPE 3787 Collective Agreement with a monthly salary of $5,148.52 to $5,980.54 depending on experience and qualifications plus an additional 10.75% RSP amount each pay period. Positions longer than 3 months include benefits.
The position is based in the Lower Mainland, initially at the BC NDP office in Vancouver and then on-site in either Richmond or Burnaby.
