In consultation with the Program Manager of Community Support Services, the Community Support Worker provides life skills training and support services for clients with acquired brain injuries regarding issues such as personal care and other aspects of daily living, access to community leisure programs, housekeeping duties, planning and preparing meals, booking medical appointments and organizing and supporting a client to follow through with a weekly schedule with one or more brain injured clients living in the community.
The Community Support Worker empowers the client(s) to perform all aspects of daily living as independently as possible, providing support and intervention where necessary.
Qualifications:
Must NOT be working in any other health care facility
Recent related experience working with the brain injured or other disabled population
Recent related experience in behavior modification techniques
Current certification and documents in the following areas: emergency first aid or equivalent, CPR level A, drivers license class 5
Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Proficient in written and spoken English
Recent Clear Tuberculosis Test
Must pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check
Use of a personal vehicle to drive clients to appointments and other outings
