Overview: *
As the Senior Accountant, you will be involved in the creation of accurate and timely period end reports, analysis and presentations to support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements of the Company. You will assist in the preparation and review of accounting entries and reconciliations. As an Analyst, you will help bridge the gap between financial results and the business operations using your skills in data analytics and business intelligence reporting tools. This position works closely with the Financial Controller to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, and internal controls and practices are being adhered to.
Key Accountabilities: *
Ensure all financial ledgers, systems and processes are accurate and functioning as designed.
Assist in the design, implementation, oversight and management of the company’s accounting, payroll, and inventory management systems, processes, and business intelligent reporting systems and continuous improvement thereof.
Assist in the processing of transactions and journal entries on a timely basis, assisting other team members and departments as needed.
Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages, and interpreting and communicating the results of the business based on the underlying data, against budget and prior year.
Assist with required monthly and/or year-end audit working papers including leadsheets, account reconciliations, and related schedules.
Train accounting and administrative staff on processes and in using the systems related to their area of responsibility.
Act as primary backup for payroll and related administrative paperwork, filings, and regulatory reporting.
Develop dashboards, ad hoc reports, and KPI’s using excel and approved business intelligence tools.
Work closely with the sales, inventory, logistics, and production teams to manage cycle counts and inventory to ensure our supply meets the demand, and the appropriate recognition/value for inventory in the accounting system.
Assist departments in reconciling and understanding their data and variances, and assist in measuring and analyzing the operational effectiveness of the teams and KPI’s.
Monitor actual results against planned monthly results and investigate and analyze material deviations from plan.
Work closely with the technology team to document and implement key systems and collaborate with operational and cross-functional teams to drive process improvements.
Support the information technology team in maintaining and troubleshooting the company’s key accounting systems, and general desktop and network troubleshooting backup and support if needed.
Assist in other duties and projects assigned by the Financial Controller.
Knowledge, experience and qualifications: *
CPA with minimum five years post designation experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Big four public accounting firm experience an asset.
Bachelor’s Degree with a specialization in accounting or finance.
Good understanding of IFRS and experience with financial reporting requirements.
Excellent accounting and technical skills with attention to detail and drive for accuracy.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize.
Strong ability to work within a team as well as an ability to take initiative and work independently.
Proficient in analytical analysis, and acts with high integrity.
Good written, verbal, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese an asset.
Experience working with various accounting, payroll and inventory packages.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, excellent technical skills in data management and advanced Excel knowledge.
Knowledge of Business intelligence tools, power queries an asset.
Comfortable with technology and willingness to learn and troubleshoot ad hoc accounting systems issues.
