Villa Cathay is undergoing capital redevelopment to become a modernized care environment. Upon completion, VCCH will increase the care capacity by 50%. Position Summary:
The Recreation Services Assistant is responsible and accountable for the provision of resident assessments and interventions and the site recreation programs to optimize resident physical, cognitive, sensory, emotional and social functions.
The Recreation Services Assistant works in close liaison with the Activities Manager.

As the Recreation Services Assistant you will assess the needs of each resident, develop individualized plans, and deliver important programs and services to all.
Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that our seniors have ample opportunities to enjoy a rich, full life, maximizing their abilities and raising their levels of enjoyment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an approved accredited academic institution and/or Degree in Recreation and Leisure with a major in Therapeutic Recreation or active CTRS credential
A current Basic First Aid Certificate
Current or eligible for (require to obtain the license within 3 month of the start date) BC Class 4 driver’s license
One year of recent, related experience preferred
Assets:
Eligible for joint membership in the BC Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA) and the Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association (CTRA)
Active CTRS credential desired
