Position Overview
We have a great opportunity for individuals with demonstrated people management and business development experience to take the reins for the vibrant and unique branch management opportunity at West End.
The Branch Manager establishes and achieves an exceptional member experience by overseeing the branch operation and promoting service excellence. The incumbent is a strong business leader and relationship manager and partners with the branch, departments and leadership teams to contribute to the overall growth of G&F’s book. The incumbent is also a strong coach and team leader, and utilizes the ME model to help guide employees in driving successful individual and team performance.

Leadership
Builds and leads a cohesive team ensuring all performance management processes are established, performance standards developed, performance appraisals conducted and development opportunities identified and implemented.
Provides leadership to all direct reports; provides coaching to build capabilities and fosters professional development to enable employees to optimize their contribution and maximize employee engagement.
Oversees the day to day operation of the branch with a view of sustainably growing and maintaining G&F’s various areas of business and providing exceptional service to the branches and our members.
Drives operational efficiencies to maximize resources and enhance productivity.
Translates and Communicates G&F strategies and objectives with relevant teams and colleagues to ensure successful execution of annual business plan.
Creates an annual business plan and budget; collaborates with the leadership team to ensure the areas of improvement are aligned with the business needs.
Risk Management
Ensures adherence to credit policies so all loans or credit applications are effectively evaluated, documented, adequately secured and audited, and that effective collection and control procedures are employed. Recommends loans that exceed personal discretionary lending limits to the next level of approving authority.
Ensures routine audits and controls are in place for all member service, lending and administrative functions by regularly monitoring specific areas of operations, identifying problem areas and initiating action as required. Accountable for ensuring the Branch Manager is aware of any risks identified through this process.
Business Development
Creates and executes an annual business plan and budget; collaborates with the leadership team to ensure the areas of improvement are aligned with the business needs.
Collaborates with the Assistant Branch Manager to ensure operational targets for loan and investment portfolios are met.
Supports the team in building relationships with referral sources in the community including centres of influence and other professional networks to promote G&F and build business.
Identifies member needs and promotes/cross-sells products and services through direct member contact.
Relationship Management
Ensures branch team is representing and delivering the G&F brand and service standards consistently and effectively.
Gauges member needs by utilizing appropriate feedback channels to optimize overall member experience
Responds to member feedback and communicates/escalates concerns, collaborating as appropriate to ensure a constructive solution.
Community Investment
Develops and manages relationships with organizations and groups to build and promote the credit union’s corporate social responsibility and commitment to community.
Leads and/or participates in G&F-sponsored educational seminars and information sessions.
Builds and maintains positive relationships within Centres of Influence (COI), community and business network.
Requirements
7-9 years’ related experience
Post-secondary business degree or diploma
Demonstrated success in business development and relationship management
Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate and drive team performance
Successful completion of Financial Planning I and CUIC 210 plus additional related courses
Ability to speak Punjabi, Cantonese or Mandarin desired
Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate
