We are expanding our team and accepting applications for a Veterinary Assistant position.
Full time hours are preferred, however, part time applications will be considered.
Veterinary Assistants participate in the daily care of all animals, maintain the hospital in a clean, sanitary, safe and efficient manner, and communicate with the public in an effective, courteous and non-judgmental manner. Duties of the Veterinary Assistant position are variable, depending on the operational needs of the hospital.
General duties will include:
- Perform client care and communication duties, including client education.
- Assist veterinarians with out-patient appointments as an Exam Room Assistant,
- Dispense prescribed medication,
- Medical record keeping,
- Prepare treatment plans & client invoicing,
- Assist RVTs with performing diagnostic treatments, including lab sample collection, and radiology,
- Assist RVTs with surgery and anesthesia as a Surgical Assistant,
- Maintenance of instruments and equipment, housekeeping duties, administrative duties, inventory, and other tasks as required.
The successful candidate will be a team player who is always willing and enthusiastic to lead and support their teammates to ensure high levels of patient and client care are provided. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have excellent time management skills. Previous veterinary experience or VOA certification is a requirement. Proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset. Fear Free certification is an asset.
We offer a competitive hourly wage dependent on experience/ability.
