We are seeking an Accounting Technician to join our growing and innovative team. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys challenging work, loves working with new technology, and providing great client services and business advice to multiple clients. You’ll get to work directly with our clients and a team of experienced professional accountants in providing full cycle accounting, analysis of accounts or accounting transactions as well as preparation of payroll, GST/HST returns, WSBC applications, and addressing various CRA related matters.
We are looking for an Accounting Technician who enjoys working in dynamic, fast-paced environments and is able to take initiative when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Our Accounting Technicians are responsible for managing a book of clients ranging from full cycle accounting, preparation of payroll, GST/HST, QST and PST tax compliance filings and various other accounting or business related matters that may arise on a daily basis. Working in a team is essential and you must be willing to learn as well as train junior staff in order to meet your deadlines.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes:
- 1 – 2 years’ experience with full cycle accounting to general ledger stage using various accounting software such as Simply Accounting and QuickBooks as well as Sage Cloud and QuickBooks Online
- Experience with preparation of bank and credit card reconciliations
- Experience with preparation of payroll and payroll benefits including filing of source deductions, WorkSafe BC premiums, and record of employment considered an asset
- Filing of GST/HST return, QST return and various PST returns
- Recording and reconciling investment accounting
- Preparation and tracking of accounts receivable and accounts payable sub-ledger
- Able to identify and use cloud based software applications that will help increase productivity and efficiency
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills as well as strong attention to detail
- Has a positive “can do” attitude and approach
- Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving
- Works effectively in a team environment as well as individually and can handle multiple clients ensuring that client and statutory deadlines are met on a timely basis
- Reviews own work to detect errors before submission for review
- Works well under supervision and actively listens and asks questions related to the role
- Second language in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) and/or Japanese is an asset but not necessary
