Academy of Modern Art (AOMA) is a Vancouver based art education institution dedicated to transitioning art and design students to their post-secondary school of choice. AOMA portfolio offers students a comprehensive program that helps them prepare a creative portfolio needed for admission into the best Fine Arts, Multimedia, and Design programs in the world.
AOMA is looking for an experienced Art and Design Portfolio Program Supervisor who is patient, detail-oriented, responsible and enjoys working with teenagers. The ideal candidate will be very familiar with the top Art and Design post-secondary programs as well as the application requirements and processes for universities and design schools in North America and Europe.
Responsibilities:
· Support the portfolio program development and supervise team operation;
· Daily consultation with students or parents who want to apply for top art and design programs at a post secondary level in Canada, the United States and/or Europe;
· Prepare individual student’s university list and arrange the portfolio plan;
· Assign art or design expertise portfolio instructors to different group works for students
· Supervise and adjust each student’s portfolio plan and preparation process;
· Work closely with the portfolio instructors and students to make sure that each student’s portfolio plan is being executed on time;
· Arrange and be responsible for portfolio reviews;
· Arrange portfolio post-production with the professional instructor;
· Co-ordinate between the portfolio instructors, students, parents and AOMA’s management team;
· Perform senior administrative work duties as required;
· Be able to instruct in the AOMA programs as needed;
· Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
· Must hold a Bachelor or Master’s Degree in art and design or related major from a top-ranking university in North America or Europe;
· Must be familiar with North American and/or European art and design post-secondary programs and the requirements for the application portfolio;
· A minimum of 2 years work experience coaching university application portfolio planning to art and design students;
· Must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills;
· Knowledge of Mandarin is an asset;
· Knowledge of design or digital media is an asset;
· Strong organizational skills, a good work ethic and attention to details required;
· Have a passion for patiently working with teenagers;
· Have an enthusiastic and positive attitude and enjoy encouraging and inspiring students to achieve their goals;
· Be highly responsible and have a professional attitude towards advising and teaching;
· Available for flexible work hours and be a great team player.
