About the Role
Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, this role is accountable for supporting the purchasing department in ensuring the smooth implementation and maintenance of product inventory efficiently and under budget.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in the management of all aspects of sourcing and the supply of materials
· Prepare and update forecasts of assigned items to optimize inventory levels and to minimize backorders
· Responsible for ordering assigned items, factoring in the purchasing budget and lead times to ensure we do not run out of stock
· Serve as a first point of contact for majority of day-to-day supplier communications
· Communicate with internal and external partners on status of purchase orders and inventory
· Communicate with source suppliers in relation to quality issues that arise
· Responsible for all carrier and broker related activities related to assigned items (including booking approvals, shipment schedules, shipping documents, customs clearance)
· Work with various departments to align supply and demand effectively and efficiently
· Prepare weekly vendor payment details and supporting documents for submission to AP
· Keep product attributes updated in our ERP system
· Assist with sourcing materials as required for our operations
· Assist purchasing department with general duties
· Other related duties as assigned from time to time.
About You
· You have a passion for pets, and are comfortable working in a dog-friendly environment
· Eligible to work in Canada
· A degree in Materials Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Science with 1- 2 years of experience utilizing a material resource planning system or equivalent combination of education and experience in the field
· Experience in supply chain management
· Working knowledge of ERP systems
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Intermediate knowledge of excel (e.g. VLOOKUP and pivot tables)
· Strong ability to build relationships with key contacts and international vendors
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via email
· Detail oriented
· Mandarin as a second language, an asset
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with constant change
