Job purpose: As a Commercialization Specialist, you are responsible for managing products from design approval through to production readiness, supporting our ability to deliver on time and provide an exceptional consumer experience. Your innovative and solutions-focused approach to development ensures that each product you work on meets Arcteryx design intent, supply chain requirements and contributes to our ability to scale in a skilled capable manufacturing base.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
You own the development of product as we transition to manufacturing from product creation approval through to bulk readiness, on time in full
You consistently achieve product design intent through collaboration with Product Creation, Supply Chain, Compliance and Quality departments
You work directly with global vendors, as well as Arc’teryx own factory, to accurately communicate model requirements, buy ready and production ready specifications, approved reference samples and patterns to meet established fit, quality and construction standards
You collaborate with global and own factory base to provide manufacturing input to our Product teams that will improve scalability, efficiency and enable quality in our manufacturing base
You transform the Product Creation tech pack information into an accurate database of BOM information that will result in efficient raw material sourcing and purchasing and enables the vendors to accurately produce finished product
You execute to calendar deliverables, including but not limited to sample development, material validation, costing, compliance testing, quality evaluation and approval requirements with key stakeholders
You are responsible for product cost estimates and vendor cost negotiations to meet and/or exceed target FOB/margins for new product
You manage seasonal carryover spec and cost process to support supply chain and colour team visibility and ensure inflation targets and seasonal updates are met
You manage inline product updates including but not limited to factory transitions, material changes, compliance changes
You contribute to the creation and evolution of construction standards in conjunction with the QA team
You support Sourcing & Commercialization, Quality in the training of new factory resources and ensure that Arc’teryx brand standards are met
You support the onboarding and training of new Commercialization Specialists, and cross training within the team
You identify gaps and opportunities, working with Sourcing & Commercialization to drive process improvement with a lean forward attitude to drive evolution within design to manufacturing process
You maintain a thorough understanding of key products, stakeholders and cross functional processes, as well as the business vision and objectives
You compile project scope, activities, and expenditures of projects deemed to be eligible for submission to funding programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACs etc)
Additional experience, education and/or skills: Required
You have 3+ years’ experience in product development (developing product/process) with a focus on technical, innovative apparel and equipment
You have an Undergraduate Degree OR equivalent industry training, certification, or related business experience
You have experience effectively communicating with, and travelling to domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers
You have experience in product costing and negotiation skills
You have a comprehensive understanding of design intent, product aesthetics, construction, production and fit
You have a complete understanding of the product lifecycle process – from ideation to consumer
You have a strong knowledge of raw materials, technical construction, and sourcing
You are detailed and accuracy oriented with strong organizational skills
You demonstrate initiative, agility and commitment
You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
You are goal driven with a results-oriented attitude
You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration

You have proficiency in Microsoft Office and Abode Illustrator
You have experience in production manufacturing, merchandising and pattern making
You are fluent in a second language (Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese)
