TITLE: English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher
POSITION OVERVIEW:
HongDe (Virtue) Elementary School is a BC Ministry of Education registered Not-For-Profit Kindergarten — Grade 5 Independent School, offering a Mandarin / English bilingual program. http://www.hongdeschool.ca/
Our school is seeking a dynamic and experienced English Language Learner (ELL) teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality instruction to students who are non-native English speakers, supporting their language acquisition and academic success. The ELL teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.
Start Date: May 15, 2023
Education and Experience Required:
– Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
– Valid teaching certification in ELL or ESL
– Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ELL students
– Knowledge of language acquisition theory and best practices in ELL instruction
– Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills
– Proficient in the use of technology to support teaching and learning
– Proficient in Mandarin is an asset.
Specific Responsibilities
– provide 1 on 1 tutoring, or group with ELL students
– ensure that students understand the subject content
– identify the needs for additional support of course content
– provide targeted feedback on students’ work
– ensure that the student is engaged in the classroom
– review students’ academic progress, monitor and evaluate students’ performance
– Any other tasks as assigned by the Principal or Head Teacher
