Dillon’s Communities and Environment technical group are looking for Field Technicians with an enthusiasm and interest in sustainability and the environment to work on several waste management and community awareness projects for our Municipal Clients located in Metro Vancouver for approximately four months and to be based in the field in the Cities of Surrey, Vancouver, White Rock and Coquitlam.
This is a great opportunity to have fun working with a team who are also passionate about sustainability while gaining new skills from local waste professionals.
Responsibilities:
Completion of audits of residential organics, recycling and garbage collection carts
Completion of audits of residential recycling carts, tagging waste carts and uploading data
Completion of street litter audits, identifying different categories of common litter
Communication to all members of the public in a manner that is effective, friendly and professional and ensures exceptional service
Development of a strong understanding of the municipal waste collection program for the Cities of Surrey and Coquitlam and any changes in order to answer questions from the public
Inputting and uploading of data and results. For some weeks, this may include using your personal mobile phone
Ability to work various weekday, evening, overnight and weekend shifts
Available to attend one training session
Qualifications:
Applicants must be able to perform physical work in an outdoor environment and should be comfortable walking long distances (ten km or more) in all weather conditions
Professional and friendly attitude with the ability to quickly develop rapport with members of the public
Ability to speak Punjabi, Hindi, Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset. Please indicate in your application if you are able to speak any of these languages
Experience:
Strong work ethic and self-starter, able to effectively manage multiple priorities, and adapt to change within a fast-paced environment
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while exercising judgment and a high level of professionalism
Ability to work safely and follow instructions
