Do you enjoy meeting new people? Are you a go-getter? Dillon’s Community & Environment group is looking for Field Technicians to join our team!
As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for talking to businesses about Richmond’s single-use item reduction strategy. The project team will be based of 6 people and will be door-to-door.
These positions will be based in the Richmond area. All of the locations for surveying, with the exception of Steveston, are within a 2 – 3 minute walk from the skytrain. Transportation arrangements will be made from/to Steveston to the closest skytrain station.
Paid training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
Field Work (100%)
- Talk to businesses in the Richmond area to inform them about the single-use item reduction strategy and upcoming single-use item workshops
- Communicate to all members of the public in a manner that is effective, friendly and professional and that ensures exceptional service
Qualifications:
- Working towards a post-secondary education in Environmental Science or Engineering is considered an asset
- Applicants must be able to perform physical work in an outdoor environment and should be comfortable walking long distances in all weather conditions
- Professional and friendly attitude with the ability to quickly develop rapport with members of the public
- Ability to speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset. Please indicate in your application if you are able to speak any of these languages
- Ability to work from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm from August 16 to August 18
- Access to a vehicle not required but considered an asset
Experience:
- Door-to-door or public consultation experience is an asset
- Strong work ethic and self-starter, able to effectively manage multiple priorities, and adapt to change within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while exercising judgment and a high level of professionalism.
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions
