Freelance Contract Interpreter Opportunity
Unique Opportunity for Professional Interpreters
We are looking to expand our team in the Fraser Valley and East Fraser Valley areas. We are searching for experienced professional interpreters to join our roster of freelance contractors by January 2021.
As an independent contract interpreter you will provide spoken language interpreting services to a wide variety of patients and clients, facilitating communication in health care organizations across the Lower Mainland. Although we encourage applications from all language groups, we are especially interested in individuals who are fully fluent and able to interpret in English and one or more of the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Cantonese, Farsi, French, Hindi, Gujarati, Japanese, Korean, Lao, Mandarin, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, and Vietnamese.

Our ideal candidates possess
Completed language assessment for interpreting language pairing(s), pairing must include English
Completion of a minimum of 60 hours of interpreting training from a recognized organization. Training must include foundation level interpreting course(s) that focus on standards of practice and ethical principle and the skills necessary to provide interpreting in health care
Related experience working as an interpreter
This role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in diverse settings, adapt to changing environments, and communicate with a wide-range of individuals. As an ideal candidate, you have a professional attitude and are able to adhere to a professional code of ethics. Additionally you have demonstrated ability to manage a changing schedule and administrative functions of being an independent contractor, and are available to accept assignments at various times of the day/week.
