Fasken’s Marketing and Business Development team has an immediate opening for an exceptional professional to work out of our Vancouver or Surrey office. We are seeking a tenacious and motivated individual to:
- Drive and execute the Surrey marketing and business development plans
- Support lawyers in business development and profile raising efforts
- Increase awareness of the Fasken Surrey office
As the Marketing and Business Development Specialist, the successful candidate will enjoy a highly visible position providing full cycle marketing and business development assistance to assigned practice and industry groups, working with lawyers and other professionals from the regional marketing, digital marketing and communications teams.

A Day In The Life
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with multiple practice and industry groups and the Director, Business Development and Marketing to develop and implement the Surrey marketing program and business development plans. This will include:
- Assisting with the identification and evaluation of new business opportunities and targets
- Conducting and coordinating research on identified new business targets
- Working with lawyers to identify business development opportunities, client educational programs, seminars, community involvement, public relations and sponsorship avenues
- Assisting with the preparation of proposals and presentations from RFPs/RFIs to more general ‘cold call’ firm descriptions and preparing electronic or hard copies of these documents for delivery and distribution
- Planning and supporting events, conference sponsorship’s, regional entertainment and receptions
- Gathering information regarding membership opportunities in local and regional business and/or trade organizations, community and charitable boards
- Coordinating nominations for Firm, lawyer and/or Marketing awards and client industry awards
- Assisting with the production of advertisements and invitations that align with brand guidelines for sponsorship’s, publications and branding
- Coordinating the posting of regional contributions to firm website, from direct revisions to biographies and news and event listings
- Execution of special project work as outlined by the Director, Business Development & Marketing and Regional Managing Partner
- Performing all other related tasks, as required
Must Haves
- Confidence and a high degree of comfort in dealing with professionals
- A demonstrated ability to project manage, and efficiently handle competing and/or shifting priorities
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) when dealing with lawyers, clients, staff and third parties as well as a highly developed customer service bias
- Being organized, with high attention to detail and accuracy when completing tasks
- Strong, proven interpersonal skills and with the ability to easily build relationships
- Having the ability to source solutions and work independently when required
- A team player with energy and initiative who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- 4+ years of experience in marketing or professional services business development
- An undergraduate degree in Business or Communications and/or completion of a two-year Marketing diploma program
- Strong preference for candidates with legal or other professional services-related firm experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience with Interaction or other CRM tools a plus
- Bilingualism- the ability to speak Punjabi, Mandarin, Cantonese or other languages will be an asset
