Job Description:
North America Vocational Education Group (NAVEG) is an educational consulting firm providing a full range of services through our WEDO Education’s Standardized Test Prep Center to guide families in their academic endeavours. We offer a variety of courses at the high school and advanced level in subjects ranging from English, Math, Sciences and an assortment of SAT, ACT, TOFLE, IELTS courses and more.
A teaching assistant (TA) serves as a liaison between the instructor, the students and their parents to ensure ongoing communication between all parties. Furthermore, a TA assists the instructor with course material, assignment and test marking, and holds small group sessions with students in order to provide additional support and guidance.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison between teacher, students and parents
- Communicate with parents and students about high school courses
- Familiarise oneself with the course content
- Attend classes regularly and communicate with the instructor about the course content, supplementary materials, assignments, etc. in a timely manner
- Conduct regular tutorial and review sessions to guide students through homework & test questions
- Help students individually or in small groups with assignments/test questions and provide constructive feedback or solutions on students’ progress.
- Manage Google Forms, Google Classroom and track students’ test papers and assignments
- Oversee students’ learning progress, homework submission and provide sufficient feedback to the teacher
- Be approachable, patient with and helpful to students
- Assist the Education team with administration duties
- Work with the Student Recruitment and Marketing department on reaching company’s goals
- Interview and hire qualified teachers
- Train teachers on how to use technology, conduct 1-1, group class and homework squad sessions effectively
- Observe teachers’ and students’ performance by listening to class recordings
- Review and evaluate teachers’ reports on students
- Evaluate initial assessments, entrance exams, interview questions, exams for validity and accuracy
- Review and update lesson plans and prepare teaching materials on Google Classroom
- Administer assessments to students to determine learning needs, teachers and classes that best match the student and prepare a timeline for academic goals
- May be required from time to time to teach classes, interact with, and motivate students during instruction, and document student progress after instruction
- Document student progress, class plans, syllabus and learning strategies and communicate with the Management Team any concerns regarding student progress
Qualifications:
- A Canadian or American High School diploma is an asset
- Bachelor’s Degree is an asset, especially in Math or related field
- Related work experience with Grade 8-12 students
- Excellent verbal communication and written skills
- Patient, compassionate, enthusiastic and have positive attitude about learning
- Availability to work 2-4 hours during weekday evenings or during the weekend
- Must be bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, spoken and written form
Start Date:
- Part-time starting in mid-May
- Full-time starting early June

Salary: From $18.00 per hour
