Mechanical Assembler

Purpose of the Job:
This position is responsible for assembly of mechanical equipment and subcomponents according to design drawings, schematics and fitting instructions. The goal is to produce complex mechanical outputs by putting together smaller components using your hands or machines to do the job with greater precision.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Read, interpret and follow machinery blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products
- Verify conformance of parts using measuring instruments.
- Ensure perfect fit of components. Remove rough spots, and smooth surfaces to fit, trim, or clean parts.
- Position and align components for assembly, manually or using hoists.
- Inspect, operate, and test completed assemblies to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer specifications.
- Identify product defects and complete reporting documentation as required
- Rework and/or modify assembled equipment according to instructions
- Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and safety procedures
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Support team development and continuous improvement initiatives
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- College or Technical school degree or equivalent experience related to mechanical or mechatronics filed.
- 1-2 years mechanical assembly experience. Familiar with sheet metal structure assemblies.
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings etc. Advanced knowledge in electrical structures, shafts, bearings chains and gears
- Can use thinking and reasoning skills to solve a problem, including developing new concepts or idea to overcome a design challenge.
- High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
- Ability in using hand tools and power tools. Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Good understanding of quality control principles and practices.
- Must be able to read, understand and interpret written and/or verbal instructions and have good communication skills in English. Chinese language is an asset.
- Ability to deal with changing priorities on a daily basis
- Ability to work closely with other team members
- Requires flexibility and understanding that all staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Company
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $46,347.00-$82,000.00 per year

- Engineering Technologists & Technicians: 1 year (preferred)
