Job Description
Woodland Family Practice is a group practice of 5-6 family doctors located at Nanaimo Street and East 1st Avenue. We strive to provide excellent and inclusive patient care and are looking for medical office assistants full or part time to help support us! General Qualifications
● Friendly and helpful attitude
● Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Word, Excel & EMR (Knowledge of MedAccess is asset)
● Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
● Verbal proficiency in English. (Conversational Cantonese-chinese is an asset)
● Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, patients, and external agencies
● Knowledge of health administrative practices and ability to adhere to organizational policies, procedures and systems
● Attention to detail
● Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize
● Ability to take initiative and to exercise sound judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise
● Knowledge of or experience with MSP, ICBC & WCB billing codes and procedures is an asset
● MOA education or previous related experience is an asset
General Duties & Responsibilities
● Answer telephone and make patient phone calls
● Checking email and online messaging portal
● EMR task management
● Ensuring daily paperwork completed (scans/recalls/referrals)
● Escort patient to exam room
● Maintain records of office supplies and inventory
● Schedule appointments & appointment maintenance
● Set up/clean/stock patient rooms
● Work in reception (greet patients)
● Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
● Immunization set up
● Measure patient’s weight and height, take patient vital signs
● Monitor patients (in clinic) after tests and immunizations
● Prenatal, complete physical exam and pap set up (including weights & blood pressure)
● Restock supplies in patient rooms
● Review and submit MSP, ICBC & WCB billing claims
● Triage patients over the telephone using a protocol to determine the acuity of the visit and the visit-length for scheduling purposes.

Job Types – Full-time
Hours – Monday – Friday 8:30am to 5pm
Salary – $19.00-$25.00 per hour, based on level of experience

COVID-19 considerations:
As per BC Public Health guidelines, all individuals entering a medical facility must wear a mask. Patients will undergo a COVID-screen. We also have a HEPA air filtration system.
