T&T Supermarket Inc. was found in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 29 stores across the country: 13 in Metro Vancouver, 6 in Alberta, and 10 in Ontario (8 in GTA and 1 in Ottawa, 1 in Waterloo). The Company’s continuous expansion is bringing forward its first-ever store in Montreal, Quebec, set to open in 2022/2023.
The Role:
Reporting to the Manager of Merchandising, the Merchandiser is responsible for the overall purchasing function in the region for the Bakery department. This position also requires maintaining excellent relationship with stores, current suppliers, sourcing and qualifying new supplier, negotiating prices for products that result in a successful portfolio of purchases that meet high quality standards and cost effectiveness.

Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the entire purchasing processes within Bakery department and all stores in the region
- Review/analyze vendor competitive bids and proposals; negotiate vendor contracts; evaluate vendor and brand performance, prepare and analyze purchasing reports
- Work with Department Manager to develop enhanced category performance and product selections, vendor relationships, product specifications, delivery logistics, etc
- Ensure all vendors meeting company food safety standard by working closely with FSQA department
- Co-operate and assist to ensure all materials and packaging purchased meet food safety and quality standard
- Implement category strategies and tactic including marketing, assortment and pricing programs
- Achieve both sales and profit targets for a related group of products within the bakery department
- Monitor and replenish inventory in a timely manner to ensure adequate inventory and maintain good quality
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior(s)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
- Minimum 1 of purchasing experience years in the food services industry, or supermarket chain store
- Knowledge and prior experience in bakery products (Bread, Cake &/or other Pastries) is highly preferred
- Strong negotiation skills with sound business judgment and decision-making
- Ability to build, develop and maintain relationship
- Possess intermediate knowledge in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Some travelling to stores &/or suppliers is required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Able to communicate in Chinese (Mandarin &/or Cantonese) is an asset

Shift
- 5 day work week (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm)
