About us
The VCBIA is a non-profit society whose mandate is to develop, encourage and promote business within its neighbourhood. It plays an active role in business development, recruitment, retention, safety, security and street enhancement for the area.
As a BIA, business and commercial property owners work together in efforts for economic development and growth in the area. The VCBIA represents over 650 business and commercial property owners within its borders of Gore, Pender, Carrall, and Union Streets.

VCBIA is a small office and has successful special events throughout the year. This position will assist and support the Society’s office administration.
The ideal candidate will be able to speak the Chinese language and will have a keen interest in the Vancouver Chinatown community. Experience and interest in non-profit cultural and social service is desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Administration
- Maintains effective relationships with members, staff, and vendors.
- Supports the operations and activities of the VCBIA office
- Supports accounts receivable, accounts payable and banking functions
- Oversees day-to-day office administration tasks.
EVENT COORDINATION
- Creating event plans with timelines and expected outcomes.
- Co-organizing, supporting, and scheduling meetings
- Maintains accurate and detailed records of events, guests, orders, payments and expenses
- Communication with vendors, sponsors and volunteers
- Arranging audiovisual and other technology requirements, and logistics
- Is available to work on weekends when there are special events
QUALIFICATIONS
· This position requires an individual with superior organizational skills, excellent communication and exceptional customer service skills
· The successful candidate will have strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with little direct supervision
· Must be comfortable working with a diverse group of people.
· 2 plus years’ experience working in an office and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Bookkeeping experience would be an asset.
