JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager, Leadership Giving Foundations & Grants, the Officer, Leadership Giving is accountable for identifying Foundation donors and providing support in donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and grant application.

The position will also be providing pipeline management for the Asian Giving Program & Telethon, in addition to working major gift team members across Canada, Prospect Research with Asian Giving and Stewardship and Donor Communications.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Foundations & Grants:

  • Supports the research, development and submission of proposals for a select group of strategically chosen national funding opportunities.
  • Liaises with foundations to qualify interest for CCS funding priorities.
  • Ensures donor and sponsor needs are met, tracked and thanked appropriately and consistently.
  • Coordinates prospect and donor lists for Leadership Giving Foundations & Major Gifts and ensure that the CCS prospect clearance process is followed.
  • Completes Salesforce data entry and coding relating to foundation gifts.

Asian Giving Program

  • Manages CCS Asian Giving website and ensures information is accurate and current.
  • Responsible for planning, effective implementation and execution of the annual Asian Giving Telethon & Radiothon.
  • Works with nationwide major gift fundraisers to identify opportunities for growth.

General

  • Identifies opportunities for cross-promotion of mission related goals.
  • Coordinates with the Marketing and Communications Department to ensure that mission messages for all stakeholders, including volunteers, participants, donors, guests, and sponsors are developed and updated.
  • Ensures multiple, overlapping deadlines are met.
  • Ensures policies and procedures for data collection and entry into data systems are maintained.
  • Ensures consistency and accuracy of information on all deliverables.
  • Attends important Leadership Giving and Major Gifts meetings as required.
  • Represents Leadership Giving with passion and professionalism within the Canadian Cancer Society and externally as required.
  • Attends CCS events as required.
  • Collaborates with and supports senior level staff and volunteers with high level major gifts prospects.
  • Works in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, and complies with the Society’s Health & Safety Policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in non-profit management, fundraising, event management, revenue development, marketing.
  • Experience using Raisers Edge; Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
  • 2-4 years of related experience (or combination of education and experience) in the area of revenue development, communications and marketing required.
  • Advanced proficiency with desktop productivity tools including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends and to travel to attend meetings and workshops as required.
  • Demonstrated planning, problem solving, communication and presentation skills required.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet competing demands with tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of not-for-profits, including volunteer engagement and current trends.
  • A valid BC Drivers License.
  • Preferred: Fluent (Written, Spoken) in Mandarin & Cantonese.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Chinese and Asian communities, demographic, who’s who and the dynamics.
