Gaia Community Care and Wellness Society (GCCWS), a charitable society set up in 2018, supports Chinese and other ethnic seniors and family caregivers in Greater Vancouver. Under its Board’s direction, GCCWS aims to effectively help ease the stresses of aging and caring for seniors, by providing culturally and linguistically appropriate community-based services, and advancing education in health and wellness and specialized training for family and community caregivers. Through instructional seminars, courses, and workshops, GCCWS helps participants explore the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills that families and caregivers need to provide compassionate care for seniors. Programs and services cover a range of topics that build an understanding of age-related issues and enable participants to develop skills and strategies to cope with the complexities of caregiving.
About This Position:
Programs are currently GCCWS’s core activities. The Program Coordinator/Manager is responsible for the overall aspects of GCCWS’s programs, which include the assessment of the needs in the community, seeking grant/funding and partnership opportunities for programs, program development, program delivery, program evaluations and reports.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop a strategic plan that enables GCCWS to provide quality and needed programs in the community
2. Identify and assess the needs in the community
3. Seek program grant/funding and partnership opportunities
4. Develop programs based on the needs and GCCWS’s priority
5. Deliver programs with quality assurance
6. Perform program promotional and marketing activities
7. Maintain relationship with program participants and provide support
8. Manage program evaluations and surveys
9. Manage program related information and resources
10. Compile and maintain proper project documentation, records and reports, and database
11. Prepare quality reports, surveys and proposals
12. Undertake volunteer recruitment and management
Qualification and Experience:
• Degree in Social Work or a related social/health care discipline
• Experience in social services
• Experience in building new programming with successful outcomes
• Experience in program management
• Experience in writing grant/funding proposals
• Ability to work in a high-paced environment, with multiple and challenging priorities
• Ability to think creatively and strategically
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in spoken English and Chinese and strong writing skill in English and Chinese
