Senior HR Specialist

FTXT-Canada is seeking a Senior HR Specialist to play a key role in recruitment, performance management, employee enagement, employee compensations & benefits, and China expats HR management. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director in Vancouver and the HR Director in China to support the grow of 35-person team in 2023 to 60-person team in 2025.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting full-cycle recruitment including: establishing requirements; building applicant pools; developing sourcing strategies; short listing candidates; evaluating candidates; managing candidates throughout the recruitment cycle; and negotiating offers.
  • Coaching managers on recruitment and selection issues.
  • Supporting the co-op student recruitment portfolio; this includes building relationships with post-secondary institution co-op offices, career centres and faculty representatives
  • Managing payroll and benefits related activities.
  • Coordinating goal settings and performance management process with functional managers.
  • Ensuring employee enagement at FTXT-Canada.
  • Managing all China expats need in Vancouver.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of recruitment strategies.
  • Participating in other projects, within HR and corporate-wide, as required.

What you will be doing:

Talent Acquisition

  • Work closely with FTXT-China HR team to set and/or implement HR employee policies, procedures, compensation packages, and communication system to meet the Canadian fuel cell industry standards.
  • Develop employee recruitment plan and onboarding package, write job descriptions, screen canadiates, interview canadiates and select successful canadiates and proposed compensation packages details.
  • Full cycle recruitment for FTXT-Canada and Oversea recruiting for FTXT-China.

Payroll, Benefits and Pensions

  • Support FTXT-China on Canadian payroll related issues with ADP.
  • Respond to all employee benefits and pension inquiries, and assists to resolution
  • Completes benefits onboarding and offboarding activities for all employees
  • Maintains current information on provider websites for all employee benefit changes.
  • Coordinates, promotes, and facilitates benefits presentations, educational sessions and tools for employees, including delivery of new employee orientations.
  • Provides analytics, insights and recommendations on enhancements to benefit program design, policy, philosophy, strategy and technology.
  • Keep apprised of all pertinent federal and provincial regulations, filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefit programs to ensure company compliance.
  • Manages benefit broker and vendor relationships; work with benefits advisors to improve FTXT-Canada benefit plan to help FTXT-Canada to be more competitive with the other fuel cell company in term of talents retention.
  • Oversee the benefits renewal and approval process, including coordinating discussions between benefit broker, HR, and management.

HR Administration & Support

  • Main point of contact for employees and managers for any benefits disability or leave inquiries.
  • Manage disability claims and administers leaves.
  • Maintain and update employee files, databases and employee records.
  • Works with managing director on employee departures and other HR administrative functions as required.
  • Participates in HR projects as required.
  • Support goal setting and performance review process for all FTXT-Canada employees.
  • Manage all China expats HR related activities.

Candidates should have:

  • A minimuim of three years’ experience in recruitment, preferably in a corporate environment, with a proven ability to build and maintain talent pools and pipelines.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or a related field (concentration in Human Resource Management is a plus); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Effective at communicating complex topics with an unfamiliar audience
  • Experience working across all layers of the organization, particularly with cross-functional teams, in a fast-paced environment
  • Awareness of the current Vancouver labour market and demonstrated skills at developing recruitment strategies that support business requirements
  • General knowledge of Canada Labour Code and regulations, and BC Employment Law.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Thrives in a multi-tasking, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Self-motivated with good judgement, team focused.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English is required. Able to speak, read and write other languages would be an asset, especially in Mandarin.
  • Cerficiated Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) would be an asset.
