Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager who is able to lead and work with the Global Sourcing and Purchasing Team to ensure that the systems and processes required for purchasing are refined and disciplined. This position will work with the Director, Indirect Procurement to ensure that there is a strategic purchasing plan in place to support Sierra Wireless’ overall business strategy. This position is based in Richmond, but it will be supporting the APAC region.
To be the ideal candidate, you will have experience working in the high-tech and/or manufacturing industries on a global scale. You have the ability to execute end-to-end purchasing activities for indirect goods and services including strategic sourcing, analysis, negotiations, contract management, and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal business units to identify needs and objectives to recommend suppliers capable of providing goods and services that meet these requirements. This includes vetting requirements to ensure that they can be operationalized
- Negotiate with vendors to arrive at the appropriate specifications and optimal value and total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Ability to structure evaluation criteria during a sourcing event to ensure an equitable and consistent approach when awarding contracts.
- Invite, assess, and award/recommend supplier tenders, bids, quotations, and proposals. This includes the ability to structure, design, and implement a sourcing event in the form of Requests for Proposals (RFP), Requests for Quotations (RFQ), and Requests for Information (RFI).
- Establish and negotiate contractual terms and conditions to contract execution.
- Supplier Management responsibilities include maintaining a supplier scorecard and regularly meeting with internal stakeholders and critical suppliers to review supplier performance and TCO.
- Comply with and maintain knowledge of applicable rules, legislation, regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Contract management responsibilities such as tracking contracts for renewals and expiries in advance to formulate appropriate supplier engagement strategies.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of purchasing experience with contract negotiation.
- Minimum 5 years of Strategic Sourcing experience (RFP, RFI, RFQ).
- Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills.
- Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Experience in managing people.
Desired Education, Experience & Skills
- Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Procurement Designation.
- Experience in Information Technology strategic sourcing (Hardware & Software).
- Mandarin and Cantonese an asset
