Full Job Description
We’re looking for a vision therapist to join our clinic. Vision therapy (aka neuro-visual rehabilitation) is a field within optometry that helps patients overcome visual problems or enhance their visual skills. We have a growing number of patients who require this service as a result of traumatic brain injury, binocular vision disorders or visual-related learning conditions.
The candidate should possess the following qualities:
- Be extremely patient
- Be highly organized
- Have a positive and encouraging attitude
- Able to work one-on-one with a patient
- Able to communicate effectively with people of different ages
- Fluent in English (verbal and written). Ability to speak a second language (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an asset
Experience in teaching, childcare, babysitting, tutoring, coaching and/or working with vulnerable populations is beneficial but not required. At least 1 year of post-secondary education is preferred but not required. Initial on the job training will be provided by the optometrist. Additional formal training may be provided in the future to the right candidate. When not working with vision therapy patients, the candidate is expected to assist with front desk/admin/pre-testing duties. Please apply if you’re interested in this rewarding and growing field.
